Though SwRI has used the Failure Experience Data portion of the GIDEP website extensivel ur mos significant use of the GIDEP System during FY2003 was in the use of Calibration Procedures. Over 600 Calibration Procedures were used, however those are not alway turned into new procedures. Many times, they are used for reference in drafting a generic procedure that can be used for many different instruments. In all, approximately 100 pages were generated that did not have to be typed from scratch. This resulted in a cost avoidance of approximately $20,000.The GIDEP System was also queried over 200 times during the past year for information in the Failure Experience Database. Althrough several documents ( Alerts and Problem Advisories) were useful in avoiding the procurement of various components of particular date codes, our organization has no method of estimating GIDEP cost avoidance for this service.
