During FY04, the SVAD utilized GIDEPs batch match and single search processes to look up Product Change Notices and Product Discontinuance Notices for the B2 program. The SVAD reviews the notices and sends a monthly report to the Program Manager with recommendations from SVAD on the disposition of each part that had a notice. If it had not been for GIDEP and the reliable information it provides, we would not be able to stand behind the work we do here with confidence in knowing we are getting the best and most up to date information possible. Many manufactures do not have their PCNs or PDNs listed on their web site, it is very time consuming and frustrating to try and look for something that is not on the web site, which is why GIDEP is so useful. The SVAD estimates that GIDEP has saved us $15,000 for FY04, in labor, for looking up the parts.
