GIDEP Alerts X9-D-99-08A, X9-D-00-48, AH6-D-96-13 and EA-D-03-04 provided notice that piece parts used in the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) Assembly were being discontinued, which could render the entire assembly obsolete. The CRT Assembly is required for sustainment of fielded GPS Indicator Controls. The next step was a major redesign. An ititiative was developed to renovate the CRT Assembly by reclaiming parts, repairing or replacing all other components, and reconstructing the complete CRT Assembly without redesign. This process restored the CRT Assembly to full functionality for sustainment and eliminated the requirement for disposal of the CRT Assembly and prevented expenditure of resources for redesign, qualification, and flight/shipboard testing.
