Goverment Initiatives to Solve DMSMS

COLLABORATIVE LOGISTICS PRODUCTIVITY (CLP)

The objective of the Collaborative Environment is to provide open access to common logistics and engineering information and tools for improved decision making and integrated processing by multiple Department of Defense (DoD) users. Development will focus initially on enhancing the process for modification and sustainment of existing weapon systems, with future capabilities broadening the scope to include enhancing the development of new weapon systems. Geographically dispersed users will be able to work collaboratively using integrated data and standard tools from multiple sources to develop and sustain weapon systems while leveraging existing and emerging tools and business logic for improved decision making.

The Collaborative Environment will:

  1. Provide real-time access to multiple, existing databases to ensure that timely and complete information is assessed in the decision making process
  2. Employ analytical decision making tools to derive more effective logistics and engineering-related evaluations
  3. Shorten weapon system acquisition lead time and improve equipment sustainability while decreasing total ownership costs

Collaborative Environment users include Service and Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Inventory Control Points (ICPs), maintenance depots, acquisition program managers (PMs), In-Service Engineering Activities (ISEAs), Engineering Support Activities (ESAs), and private industry. The Collaborative Environment will enable geographically dispersed users across DoD agencies to work together as an integrated team to solve issues related to the modification and sustainment of existing weapon systems and the development of new weapon systems.

Collaborative Environment users will be empowered with:

  1. Access to a wide range of logistics and engineering applications and information
  2. An enhanced ability to manage changes to weapon systems
  3. Systems and equipment level search capabilities
  4. Design alternatives and analytical tools for managing legacy systems and equipment obsolescence issues
